Kornhaus in Dessau

The city of Dessau, together with the brewery Schultheiss-Patzenhofer, commissioned the construction of the Kornhaus restaurant in 1929. The building was to be built on the bank of the Elbe river near the steamship dock. The name commemorates a historic granary that stood here until the 1870s.

On the day, great weather, nice ambience, you can sit outside, it wasn't too crowded. I can recommend it.

What an experience - building history to touch. And to sit in and eat! Kitchen is OK, the house is the main course. And then the location, right on the Elbe arch - it couldn't be better. Recommendable.

It was nice👏 We came in with 26 people. The view of the Elbe is pure relaxation. A few hours before we stopped in, we ordered our various dishes. We were served quickly and in a friendly manner. The food was delicious and the drinks were freshly tapped. There were no problems and no one was dissatisfied. A must for visitors to Dessau😊 Many greetings to the Kornhaus zu Dessau🖐️ team

Grandiose sunset (until mid-autumn) included. The kitchen offers an exciting menu. Last but not least: very attentive and friendly staff.

Cycling holiday, perfect weather in September, the Kornhaus catches the eye - right on the Elbe, there should be refreshment here. The terrace is not even 50 percent occupied, great. The dishes on the menu read well, unfortunately there are only 2 dishes under the vegan / vegetarian category. A tomato risotto and a quinoa burger with Manchego cheese. So just to be on the safe side, ask again, the risotto is then vegan - the answer is yes, so I order. It comes pretty quickly and a bunch of cheese on top 😳! Me so, well vegan but without cheese or is this vegan? Yes no, the food goes back to the kitchen and my waitress comes to my table and teaches me that risotto is always with cheese and I like that, but I asked her again and she said so, yes I can't know everything Sometimes I really can't speak, in the end the kitchen prepared a quick risotto, i.e. rice with tomato sauce and rocket. The star is only given for the kitchen that they have conjured up something for me, otherwise the waitress should question their professional approach again! The Kornhaus should update the menu - namely, no vegan dishes (the service staff said so afterwards), the hygiene concept is also inconsistent - the staff who serve at the tables do not wear mouth and nose protection, without exception, and documentation of those present Guests won't take place either, I'm really surprised! Overall, I think there is great potential here, especially when it comes to the kitchen, but everything else doesn't fit in at all!

The service tries hard, what is unfortunately not true is the price performance ratio. The food is totally overpriced. The question arises as to which customer clientele is being addressed here. Totally unaffordable for families with children. Maybe you should look at the menu again and not ignore the German cuisine. For comparison with Good Berlin excursion restaurants still have some catching up to do here.

A year ago we celebrated our wedding here and this year we spent our 1st wedding anniversary there. The staff is always very friendly and could answer every question. The food was excellent and we will have our next wedding anniversary there too. Of course we also go there without a special occasion, we are very satisfied there!

Great view of the Elbe! In 2001, 2006, 2016 and 2020 we visited on our Elbe hike by canoe and bike! It's already a tradition - but the prices are really high!

To promote the Bauhaus Dessau, the granary is still missing a lot. The menu can hardly convincing in terms of diversity. The courts themselves are classified in the upper price segment, the flavor is meeting the expectations only partially.

Very nice ambience! I liked it very much.! The food was delicious. Especially the asparagus cream soup. It was really magical. You sit beautifully on the terrace. Inside it is also a very nice atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly and can serve great!

We were in Dessau for work and after work we arrived at the Kornhaus for a sunset beer shortly before closing. We were served without hesitation and our questions about the building were also answered in a friendly manner. We could also look inside. Thanks to the nice staff! Beautiful building, great location! Recommendable.
